Long Month

Wow, this past month has been a whirlwind. On May 22, we went to our first doctor's appointment. It was great, well it ended great anyway. I was almost 12 weeks at the time and the doctor was unable to hear the heartbeat, so we got to have another ultrasound. When she found the baby, we all laughed. The baby was jumping around like crazy. All the movement made it too hard to hear the heart. Obviously it was alive and well. We got 3 good pictures out of it. You could clearly see the head, body, and a hand. It was amazing how much it had changed in 3 weeks.

As soon as we left the appointment, we got a call that Zach's grandma had been moved
to ICU, so we headed upstairs to be with the family. She had been diagnosed with lung cancer back in November and had been back in the hospital for 3 weeks. She ended up passing away a few days after that. It has been so hard on us all. She did get to see the baby's pictures before they put her on a ventilator. She died on a Friday, and Zach's brother, Zane, got married the following Monday. So, we all packed up and went to Canyon for the weekend. The wedding was beautiful despite the sadness over the loss of Nana. We came back from Canyon Tuesday, then started to work Wednesday, then had the memorial service Saturday. Saturday afternoon we went to Amarillo for Shaley's bacherlorette party and finally back home late that night.

Things are finally as normal as I guess they will be for a while. Summer school is halfway over! We are headed to Stamford for Father's Day weekend. Shaley's wedding is on the 30th and I still haven't had my dress altered to fit my belly. Yikes!

We don't have any big summer plans besides doing some major house renovations. Zach has stripped all of the tile out of our bathroom as well as pretty much everything else. We had a garage sale and cleared out a bedroom for the baby. It is still about 5 weeks until we get to find out the sex of the baby, so we aren't starting on the room yet. It is actually last on a long list of summer projects.

Here are a few pics from the wedding:
