First Valentine's Day

February has been tiring. We all had a week in which we were sick with the flu, pneumonia, sinus infections, you name it. We are all better now. During the week of illness, my mom had back surgery in Lubbock and we weren't allowed to be around her much due to risk of infection to her. She didn't even get to hold Kagen before the surgery. She had a disc replaced in her back. The surgery was very successful, but she has six weeks of recovery to go through before she will know if it has relieved any of her pain. The same day as her surgery, Kagen had his 2 month check-up at the doctor. He was doing very well. She had to give us some nasal medicine to help him with his allergies and conjestion, but other than that he was great. We are now adding a little bit of cereal to his bottles to help satisfy him. He is still waking up around 2 or 3 every morning to eat, but I guess it could be worse. He has grown 6 lbs and 3 inches since birth. I can not believe how much he has changed in the past few weeks even. He is smiling a lot now and definitely recognizes mommy and daddy's voices and faces. Seeing him smile just melts our hearts.

Kagen played and played at the doctor's office until shot time came around. Even then he was a very good boy and only cried for about 1 minute total.

Great Grandpa was recovering from having another stint put in, so he didn't get to hold Kagen for long. He wasn't allowed to lift over 10 lbs and Kagen passed that up a long time ago.

Kagen celebrated his first Valentine's Day. He got several cards from family members, a couple of them even included money that he put in his piggy bank for later. He had a party at school which just involved all of the babies exchanging valentines. He had a sack full of them when I picked him up. He wore a cute valentine shirt like his friend Zane. They were twins. We got many pictures of them after school in the recliner of their room there. Kagen is a big boy. He is the same size as Zane who is 2 1/2 months older than him. He only weighs 1 1/2 lbs less and is 3/4" shorter than Zane. I guess Kagen will have to block for Zane when they are old enough to play football. Kagen's other friend, Kyen, will be right there with him.
