The Logans: Christmas 2010

This Christmas was so much fun with Kagen! It was his 4th Christmas already since he was only 3 weeks old for the 1st round. He was finally old enough to understand that Santa Claus was coming and that he came! He told us for 3 months that he wanted a "BIG red firetruck with a BIG, BIG, BIG, white ladder." Santa must have thought he was good, because we found one in our living room Christmas morning. It was exciting that it was Braden's first Christmas, but it was kind of hard to shop for him. He has plenty of clothes and toys thanks to Big Brother Kagen and Cousin Alex. Santa brought him a new crib toy that projects pictures on the ceiling while playing music. His other one just lights up and plays music. He loves both of them.

We spent Christmas Eve with my parents and sister's family. We made cookies, opened presents, and went to the Christmas Eve service at church. Christmas morning, we woke up at our own home and spent some time just the 4 of us. Braden woke up at 6 and we ended up waking Kagen up at 7 so we could get the day going. We were supposed to be at my mom's house for lunch with my dad's family. Zach did the cooking (steaks and cowboy potatoes). We ate lunch, then everyone loaded back up and went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to do Christmas presents and sing Christmas carols per Grandma's request. It was a bittersweet time for us all.

The day after Christmas was once again spent at my mom's house, but this time with her family. It was our first Christmas without Grandfather, so that was sad, but the kids kept our spirits up. We ate lunch, played games, and opened gifts.

We took a few days break, then headed up to the panhandle to celebrate all over again with Zach's family. We left Wednesday afternoon and met up with Zach's Grandmother and a few other family members for dinner. We got to meet Zach's new adopted cousin, Katie. Following dinner, we drove to Hale Center for the night. Thursday we took a day trip to Amarillo to visit family and friends. We got to see Zane and Cammy's new house, ate lunch with Turner and Sally (Zane and Cammy came, too), spent a few hours at the Discovery Center, then went to see Shaley and Jared's new house and see their little girl, Kesslye. It was a long day, but so fun! Friday, New Years Eye, we stayed in Hale Center and had Christmas with Zach's parents and brother. We were in bed by 10:30. Happy New Year!

New Years Day, we drove to Floydada and spent the afternoon at the Unity Center with Zach's mom's family. They rented the place so we would have more room to enjoy each other. We also celebrated little Sydni's 4th birthday that afternoon, so it was a day full of food, presents, and fun! They rented a bounce house and some scooters. The little kids and big kids bounced and rode all afternoon. The big boys also spent time outside shooting clay pigeons. We had a really good time and didn't come home sick this year! Each of the previous years, we have all somehow fit into Papa's house and someone always spreads a stomach bug to the rest of the family. This year we had space and stayed well.

I say that and as I type this, I have a little boy laying on the couch next to me who just threw up all in his bed. It has been over a year since he has had a stomach bug. I'm afraid it may have hit now though. We just bathed both kids, sprayed the house down with Lysol and are washing everything he has touched. We can't afford for me or Braden to get sick.

Mommy and Daddy gave Kagen a tent, sleeping bag, and backpack. He also got a remote control monster truck. He's so easy to please at this age!

"All this playing makes me sleepy."

My Grandma has given me an ornament every Christmas since my 1st. I was the first grandbaby, so the tradition began with me in 1978. I still have most of them. I'm missing some from the 80s. These will always be so special to me.

Kagen and his new cousin, Katie, who came here all the way from China. She will be 3 in a few months. Kagen is only 4 months older than her. She is tiny, but smart. She new no English when she came here in July and now speaks very well.

We spend New Year's Day at the Floyd County Unity Center with the Chesshir family celebrating Christmas a little late. We usually spend the day at Papa's house in Floydada, but the family is continually growing and it is way too crowded at the house. We had so much fun playing in the bounce house and riding scooters, and shooting clay pigeons. We had a Chinese Christmas for the adults and the little cousins exchanged gifts. Uncle Don barbequed and then we also celebrated little Sydni's 4th birthday with a "horse" themed party.
